What is oxygen transfer and why do we need it?
The water near the bottom of your pond is very cool and denser. It is very important to circulate this cooler water towards the surface where it is less dense. When the water is circulating and splashing in the air it captures the necessary oxygen and then releases the dissolved oxygen back into your pond. If your pond or body of water has no circulation and oxygen transfer the plants and animals are not receiving a proper source of oxygen. The circulation also helps eliminate foul odors, algae, sludge and other water quality problems.
